Structured Outpatient · Bellaire, Houston
A weekly step-down after IOP. One group session and one individual therapy session each week — enough structure to stay accountable, light enough to live your full life.
Structured Outpatient at Altura Recovery is a weekly step-down after IOP in Houston. Clients attend one group session and one individual therapy session each week to maintain clinical support, accountability, and relapse-prevention planning while returning to daily life.
Structured Outpatient (SOP) is our lightest level of care — designed specifically as a step-down after Intensive Outpatient (IOP). You attend one group session per week and meet one-on-one with your therapist once a week. That's it. Roughly two to three hours of clinical contact, on a schedule that bends around full-time work, school, and family life.
The goal isn't to add more treatment for the sake of it — it's to keep you connected to clinical support, sober peers, and a therapist who knows your story while you rebuild your routine in the real world.
Your weekly group is a small process and relapse-prevention group facilitated by a licensed clinician. It's a place to talk through what's actually happening in your week — work stress, family dynamics, cravings, wins, slips — and get real-time feedback from peers who understand. Your individual session is private one-on-one time with your therapist to go deeper on the things group can't cover.
Most clients stay in SOP for up to a year. Some step out sooner, others stay longer — the right length depends on you, not a calendar. We adjust the plan with you at regular treatment reviews.
SOP is the right fit if you've completed IOP and want continued accountability without the time commitment of three sessions a week. It's also a good fit if you're early in recovery, stable, working full-time, and need a level of care that doesn't disappear the moment IOP ends. We do not recommend SOP as a starting level of care — most people need the structure of PHP or IOP first to build a real foundation.
Altura's full continuum runs PHP → IOP → SOP → alumni community. You can step up or step down at any time as life changes. Many clients begin in PHP or IOP, transition to SOP for up to a year as they rebuild life back at work, and then move into our alumni community for long-term support. If something gets harder, we can step you back up — there's no shame in that, it's how outpatient care is supposed to work.
SOP is in-network with Ambetter from Superior HealthPlan, Cigna, Curative, UnitedHealthcare, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, and we work with most major EAPs. We verify your benefits for free, and tell you exactly what your plan covers before you commit to anything. Call or text 713-766-1330 or verify online.
SOP is not a substitute for medical detox, residential treatment, PHP, or IOP. If you're in active withdrawal, in crisis, or just starting outpatient treatment for the first time, you need a higher level of care first. We'll help you figure out what's right and welcome you into SOP when you're ready.
