What to expect

Your first call to Altura is simple, private, and focused on getting you the right help.

Calling for help can feel overwhelming. At Altura, your first conversation is with someone on our Houston team who understands recovery and wants to learn what's going on — so we can help you figure out the right next step.

  1. 1

You reach someone on our Houston team who understands recovery.

When you call Altura, you'll speak with a real person on our local team — someone who understands how hard it can be to make the first call and knows how to help you begin the process. We're here to listen, answer questions, and help you feel less alone in deciding what comes next.

  2. 2

We listen first, then help you understand your options.

The first call is a calm conversation about what's been happening, what you're struggling with, and what kind of support may be needed. You can share as much or as little as you're comfortable with. Our goal is to understand your situation and help you find the care that makes the most sense.

  3. 3

We help you find the right level of care.

After we understand what's going on, we'll help determine what level of support may be the best fit — whether that's outpatient treatment at Altura, a higher level of care, detox, residential treatment, or another trusted facility. If Altura is the right fit, we'll walk you through the next steps. If it's not, we'll still help point you in the right direction.

Programs

Whether you need full-day structure or evening sessions that fit around work and family, our Houston outpatient programs meet you where you are.

Partial Hospitalization (PHP)

About our Houston program

Outpatient drug and alcohol treatment in Houston.

Altura Recovery & Wellness is an outpatient drug and alcohol treatment center in Bellaire, just inside Loop 610 and minutes from the rest of Houston. We help adults recover from alcohol, opioids, prescription drugs, cocaine, methamphetamine, and other substance use disorders — including when those struggles come alongside anxiety, depression, PTSD, or other mental health conditions. Our programs are built so you can get real treatment without walking away from your job, your school, or your family.

A level of care for wherever you are

Recovery is not one-size-fits-all. Some people need full-day structure to stabilize. Others need a few sessions a week that fit around work. That's why we offer three connected levels of outpatient care — Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and Structured Outpatient (SOP) — so you can step up or step down as your needs change. If you need medical detox or residential treatment first, we'll help you find it and welcome you into our program afterward.

Why Houston families choose Altura

We're small on purpose. When you call Altura, you reach a real person — often the same people who'll guide your care. Our clinical team includes a psychiatrist, a psychiatric nurse practitioner, licensed therapists, and licensed counselors who specialize in addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions. We're Joint Commission accredited and LegitScript certified, the same standards held by major hospital systems, and we're independently owned — not a corporate chain.

Insurance shouldn't be a barrier

We're in-network with most major insurance plans — including Cigna, Curative, UnitedHealthcare, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas — and we work with most major PPO plans and EAPs. We'll verify your benefits for free and tell you exactly what your plan covers before you commit to anything. Check your insurance online or call 713-766-1330.

Why Altura

Treatment that treats you like a person, not a chart number.

We're a Houston-based outpatient center built on one idea: when people feel respected, they engage — and when they engage, they recover. Our clinical team is small on purpose. When you call, we know your name.

Our philosophy

Small groups. Deeper care. More time to focus on you.

At Altura, we keep our groups intentionally small so treatment doesn't feel rushed, crowded, or one-size-fits-all. Smaller groups give our clinical team more time to understand what's really going on, help you work through the deeper issues behind substance use, and make sure your care actually fits your life.

You're not just sitting in a room listening. You're part of a focused, supportive environment where people know your name, notice your progress, and help you take the next step in recovery.

Questions families ask

Frequently asked questions.

What is outpatient drug and alcohol treatment?

A structured clinical program where you receive therapy, group counseling, psychiatric care, and medication management without staying overnight. Altura offers three levels — PHP, IOP, and Structured Outpatient (SOP) — so you can recover while keeping your job, school, or family commitments.

How much does outpatient rehab cost with insurance?

Most members of in-network plans pay a small portion out of pocket after meeting their deductible. We're in-network with most major insurance plans and PPOs. We verify benefits for free and give you a clear cost estimate before you start.

How quickly can I get into treatment?

Most clients begin treatment within a few days of their first call. We schedule an intake assessment quickly and start clinical programming as soon as the same week when possible.

What's the difference between PHP, IOP, and SOP?

PHP is our highest level — full-day clinical programming, five days a week, often a step down from detox or residential. IOP is three sessions a week, mornings or evenings. SOP is the light-touch step-down after IOP — one group plus one individual session per week.

Is Altura the same as Aspire Recovery Homes?

No. Altura Recovery is a Joint Commission accredited outpatient clinical provider. Aspire Recovery Homes is a separately operated sober living network. They are independent companies with separate billing.

Do you treat co-occurring mental health conditions?

Yes. Our clinical team treats substance use disorders alongside anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar, ADHD, and other co-occurring conditions. A psychiatrist and PMHNP manage medication; therapists are trained in trauma-informed care, CBT, DBT, and MI.
