Marijuana Rehab · Houston
High-potency cannabis — concentrates, dabs, edibles, vape carts — is not the marijuana of 20 years ago. Cannabis Use Disorder is real, the withdrawal is real, and the impact on motivation, anxiety, sleep, and work performance is measurable. Altura Recovery treats marijuana use disorder as a primary diagnosis, not as an afterthought.
Altura Recovery provides outpatient addiction treatment in Houston after detox when needed, or directly when medical detox is not required. Most clients begin with PHP or IOP, then step down as stability, cravings, and support improve.
Cannabis withdrawal is uncomfortable but rarely medically dangerous, so most clients start directly in outpatient without needing detox. We assess on intake and refer for detox only if there's polysubstance use that warrants it.
From there, the typical path at Altura Recovery is Partial Hospitalization (PHP) for the first three to four weeks, then step-down to Intensive Outpatient (IOP) for two to three months. Clients who need housing structure live at one of our sober living partners throughout PHP and IOP.
High-THC concentrate use can trigger panic, derealization, and in some cases psychotic symptoms. Our psychiatric team evaluates and treats these alongside the substance use.
We help clients who have been daily users for years rebuild sleep, appetite, mood, and motivation in the first 30 to 60 days off.
Wax pens, dab carts, and rosin require different conversations than flower. We meet clients where they actually are.
ADHD, anxiety, and depression are the most common co-occurring diagnoses with cannabis use disorder. Treating both improves outcomes.
For clients who need housing alongside clinical care, Altura Recovery coordinates with established sober living programs across the Houston metro. We don't operate housing ourselves — we maintain working relationships with separately operated houses so clients have a stable place to live while they attend PHP or IOP.
For families comparing gender-specific sober living options, we often point them to Aspire Recovery Homes' Houston resources for sober living for women in Houston and sober living for men in Houston, while also helping them evaluate other separately operated homes when those are a better fit.
Sober living programs are operated separately from Altura Recovery. Housing fees are billed independently and are not part of clinical billing.

Altura Recovery is an outpatient program and does not provide on-site medical detox. If detox is clinically needed first for marijuana, we help coordinate it with a trusted partner and provide PHP, IOP, or Structured Outpatient care as the step-down afterward.
Outpatient care at our Bellaire clinic — Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and Structured Outpatient (SOP) — combining individual therapy, group work, and dual-diagnosis support for any co-occurring mental health condition.

Many clients keep working. IOP runs about three sessions a week with morning and evening tracks, and Virtual IOP across Texas removes the commute when in-person scheduling is hard.
