Meth Rehab · Houston
Methamphetamine use disorder is the diagnosis most rehabs talk around. It's hard to treat, the relapse rate is high, and clients need more structure and longer engagement than most outpatient programs are built for. Altura Recovery, paired with structured sober housing, is designed for this.
Altura Recovery provides outpatient addiction treatment in Houston after detox when needed, or directly when medical detox is not required. Most clients begin with PHP or IOP, then step down as stability, cravings, and support improve.
Meth withdrawal is psychologically severe — depression, anhedonia, sleep collapse, cravings — but rarely requires medical detox. The first 30 to 60 days off meth are the hardest. Structured housing during this period is the single biggest factor in whether sobriety holds.
From there, the typical path at Altura Recovery is Partial Hospitalization (PHP) for the first three to four weeks, then step-down to Intensive Outpatient (IOP) for two to three months. Clients who need housing structure live at one of our sober living partners throughout PHP and IOP.
Most meth clients do best with PHP for the first three to four weeks, then IOP for two to three months, then continued sober living. Short outpatient stints fail. We tell clients this on day one.
The brain takes months to rebuild dopamine signaling. We treat sleep, depression, and motivation alongside the substance use, not as separate problems.
Stimulant-induced psychosis, paranoia, and severe depression are common. Our psychiatric team evaluates and treats with clinical urgency.
Earned privileges, structured rewards, and clear consequences are baked into both Altura's clinical program and sober living partners' phased housing program.
For clients who need housing alongside clinical care, Altura Recovery coordinates with established sober living programs across the Houston metro. We don't operate housing ourselves — we maintain working relationships with separately operated houses so clients have a stable place to live while they attend PHP or IOP.
For families comparing gender-specific sober living options, we often point them to Aspire Recovery Homes' Houston resources for sober living for women in Houston and sober living for men in Houston, while also helping them evaluate other separately operated homes when those are a better fit.
Sober living programs are operated separately from Altura Recovery. Housing fees are billed independently and are not part of clinical billing.
Altura Recovery is in-network with Ambetter from Superior HealthPlan, Cigna, Curative, UnitedHealthcare, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. Out-of-network benefits available for most other commercial plans. All treatment is protected by HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 — your employer, your family, and your insurance company only learn what you authorize.
