1. HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and what's covered by this policy

Once you become a client of Altura, the health information you share with us is protected under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the federal substance use disorder confidentiality regulations at 42 CFR Part 2. Information you submit through this website before you become a client (for example, a name, phone number, email, date of birth, or insurance carrier sent through a contact or verify-benefits form) is treated by Altura with the same care, but is not by itself "protected health information" until a treatment relationship begins. We still hold it confidentially, encrypt it in transit and at rest, and never sell or rent it.

2. Information we collect

Through our website we collect:

Information you provide directly on a form, call, text, or email — name, date of birth, phone, email, insurance carrier and member ID, group number, preferred callback time, and anything written in a free-text field.
Automatically collected information — pages visited, referring URL, approximate location (from IP address), device and browser type, and similar technical data, gathered via cookies, pixels, and server logs.
Communications — call recordings (where lawful and disclosed), SMS messages, and emails you exchange with us.

3. How we use your information

We use the information you submit to: verify your insurance benefits; respond to your inquiry; contact you about treatment options; coordinate clinical care once you are a client; comply with legal, accreditation, and regulatory obligations; secure the site and prevent fraud; and improve our services. We use analytics to understand how visitors find and use the site.

4. Who we share information with

We share information only as needed to deliver care or as required by law:

Your insurance carrier (with your consent) to verify and bill benefits.
Our clinical, admissions, and administrative team on a need-to-know basis.
Vetted vendors operating under written confidentiality and business associate agreements — including our electronic health record, secure messaging, payment, CRM (HubSpot), and email-delivery providers.
Government agencies, accreditors, or courts when required by law (for example, mandated reporting of imminent harm).

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise disclose your information for advertising by third parties, and we do not share protected health information for marketing.

5. Communications & TCPA consent

When you submit a form, call, or text us, you consent to be contacted by Altura Recovery by phone (including auto-dialed and prerecorded calls), text/SMS, and email at the number and email you provided. Consent is not a condition of receiving treatment — you can also reach us by calling 713-766-1330 directly. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. You can opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP and request help by replying HELP. You can opt out of marketing email by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing message or emailing info@alturarecovery.com.

SMS programs operated by Altura comply with U.S. carrier A2P 10DLC requirements. Mobile information collected for the purpose of sending you SMS messages is never sold or shared with third parties for their marketing purposes.

6. Cookies and analytics

We use cookies, pixels, and standard analytics tools (such as Google Analytics and HubSpot tracking) to measure site traffic, attribute leads, and improve user experience. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; disabling cookies will not prevent you from using the site or contacting us. We do not use cookies to collect protected health information.

7. Data security

We use industry-standard administrative, physical, and technical safeguards to protect your information, including TLS encryption in transit, encryption at rest, access controls, audit logging, and workforce training. No system is 100% secure; please use ordinary care when sending us sensitive information over email.

8. Data retention

We retain web-form inquiries for as long as needed to respond and for a reasonable period thereafter for business, legal, and compliance purposes. Once a treatment relationship begins, clinical records are retained as required by Texas Department of State Health Services and 42 CFR Part 2.

9. Your rights

You may request a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (subject to legal and clinical record-keeping requirements). Texas residents have specific rights regarding their information under Texas law, and residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws may have additional rights including access, correction, deletion, portability, and the right to opt out of certain sharing. We will verify your identity before responding and will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

10. Children

Our services are for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 through this website. If you believe a child has submitted information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

If we materially change this Privacy Policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, when appropriate, provide additional notice on the site.
