Pick a time that works for them — we'll send a confirmation and reminders to keep the appointment from falling through the cracks. Altura Recovery & Wellness is a Joint Commission accredited, LegitScript certified outpatient addiction treatment center in Bellaire, Houston. We provide Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and Structured Outpatient (SOP) for adults with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. We are independently owned, not part of a corporate chain, and we keep our census intentionally small so every client gets continuity of care.

When you refer a patient to Altura, here is what to expect:

• Same-business-day follow-up. Our admissions team contacts your patient (and you, if you'd like) the same business day a referral comes in.
• Free benefits verification. In-network with Ambetter from Superior HealthPlan, Cigna, Curative, UnitedHealthcare, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, plus most major PPOs and EAPs. Ambetter-contracted levels include PHP, IOP, SOP, and Virtual IOP.
• Warm handoff back to you. We coordinate with your office and share documentation per the patient's consent and 42 CFR Part 2 — with clean, timely discharge summaries you can actually use.
• A continuum of care. Patients can step down from PHP to IOP, Virtual IOP, or SOP without changing teams. We also coordinate with detox and residential partners when a higher level of care is needed first.

• Hospitals, ERs, detox & residential programs. Step-down from acute care, psychiatric stabilization, or higher levels of care into PHP or IOP.
• Physicians, psychiatrists & therapists. Patients screening positive for AUD/SUD, or clients needing structured group programming alongside ongoing individual care.
• EAPs, courts & attorneys. ComPsych, Magellan, Lyra, Spring Health, Optum, LifeWorks, and others — plus court-ordered evaluations with compliance documentation.
• Case managers, interventionists & sober living homes. Coordinated intake, family communication, and warm handoffs from any sober living home in the Houston area.

Aspire Recovery Homes and other sober living programs are separately operated from Altura Recovery. Housing fees are billed independently from clinical care.

Clinical programming, in brief

Altura's programs use evidence-based modalities — Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, trauma-informed care, family systems, and 12-step facilitation — within a structured outpatient framework. Virtual IOP is available across Texas when clinically appropriate.

• Partial Hospitalization (PHP): Full-day clinical programming, five days a week. Highest level of outpatient care. Step-down from detox/residential or alternative to inpatient when clinically appropriate.
• Intensive Outpatient (IOP): Three sessions a week, mornings or evenings. Built for clients balancing work, school, or family.
• Virtual IOP: Clinician-led IOP by secure video for clinically appropriate adults anywhere in Texas.
• Structured Outpatient (SOP): One weekly group plus one weekly individual therapy session for step-down accountability after IOP.
• Dual diagnosis: Integrated care for co-occurring conditions — depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar, ADHD — with psychiatric evaluation and medication management on-site.

Insurance & payment

We are in-network with Ambetter from Superior HealthPlan, including contracted PHP, IOP, Structured Outpatient (SOP), and Virtual IOP services. We are also in-network with Cigna, Curative, UnitedHealthcare, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, accept most major PPOs out-of-network, and work with most major EAPs. Self-pay rates are transparent and competitive. Our admissions team verifies benefits free and gives your patient (and you) clear cost expectations before intake.

Confidentiality & consent

All referral information is handled in accordance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 (federal regulations governing the confidentiality of substance use disorder records). We require written patient consent before sharing any treatment information back with referring providers. If you're sending a referral on a patient who has not yet consented, we'll obtain consent on our end during intake.

Referring from out of state

We accept clients from anywhere — many fly in from out of state to begin treatment in Houston. We can help coordinate travel, sober living through partner homes we work with, and family communication. Structured Outpatient (SOP) can begin from anywhere in Texas.
