Benzo Rehab · Houston
Benzodiazepine dependence is medically dangerous and most outpatient programs aren't set up to handle the taper safely. Altura Recovery works hand-in-hand with Houston detox facilities and prescribing physicians to manage the medical side — and then provides the psychiatric, behavioral, and housing structure that protects long-term recovery.
Altura Recovery provides outpatient addiction treatment in Houston after detox when needed, or directly when medical detox is not required. Most clients begin with PHP or IOP, then step down as stability, cravings, and support improve.
Benzodiazepine withdrawal can be life-threatening. Do not stop cold turkey. We coordinate medical taper with detox facilities or your prescriber before you start outpatient with us. Once you're medically stable, our program is built to address the anxiety, trauma, and sleep issues that often drove benzo use in the first place.
From there, the typical path at Altura Recovery is Partial Hospitalization (PHP) for the first three to four weeks, then step-down to Intensive Outpatient (IOP) for two to three months. Clients who need housing structure live at one of our sober living partners throughout PHP and IOP.
We teach evidence-based anxiety management — CBT, DBT, exposure work, breathwork, and non-controlled medications — so you have real tools when benzos are gone.
Most benzo clients we see have an underlying trauma or anxiety diagnosis. Our trauma-informed clinical team treats both.
Sleep architecture is disrupted for months after stopping benzos. We address sleep specifically, including non-benzo medication options.
Benzos plus alcohol, benzos plus opioids — these combinations are the most lethal we see. We treat the full picture.
For clients who need housing alongside clinical care, Altura Recovery coordinates with established sober living programs across the Houston metro. We don't operate housing ourselves — we maintain working relationships with separately operated houses so clients have a stable place to live while they attend PHP or IOP.
For families comparing gender-specific sober living options, we often point them to Aspire Recovery Homes' Houston resources for sober living for women in Houston and sober living for men in Houston, while also helping them evaluate other separately operated homes when those are a better fit.
Sober living programs are operated separately from Altura Recovery. Housing fees are billed independently and are not part of clinical billing.

Altura Recovery is an outpatient program and does not provide on-site medical detox. If detox is clinically needed first for benzodiazepine, we help coordinate it with a trusted partner and provide PHP, IOP, or Structured Outpatient care as the step-down afterward.
Outpatient care at our Bellaire clinic — Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and Structured Outpatient (SOP) — combining individual therapy, group work, and dual-diagnosis support for any co-occurring mental health condition.

Many clients keep working. IOP runs about three sessions a week with morning and evening tracks, and Virtual IOP across Texas removes the commute when in-person scheduling is hard.
