IOP · Bellaire, Houston
Three sessions a week, scheduled mornings or evenings, so recovery fits around your job, school, and family.
9 hours a week — real treatment without putting your life on pause.
Altura's Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is structured outpatient addiction treatment in Houston with three sessions per week and morning or evening scheduling. IOP is often used after PHP or detox, or when someone needs more support than weekly therapy while continuing work, school, or family life.
An Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) gives you serious, structured addiction treatment while you keep living your life. At Altura Recovery in Houston, intensive outpatient program Houston care runs three sessions a week — about nine hours total — with morning and evening tracks so you can keep working, parenting, or going to school. IOP Houston is built for people who need more than weekly therapy but don't require full-day programming.
IOP fits people who are stable enough to manage life outside the clinic but still need consistent, structured support to stay on track. It's often a step-down from PHP, and it's also a fit for clients who have a recent issue with substances but aren't in crisis and don't need detox.
People who do well in IOP usually have a few things in common: a sober living environment at night, the willingness to do real work in group, and a desire to keep their job, school, or family routines intact. If your schedule is the obstacle, the AM and PM tracks are the answer — choose the one that fits your week.
If sober living is part of the IOP plan, Aspire Recovery Homes has Houston resources for women's sober living and men's sober living.
Group therapy is the heart of IOP. You'll attend small group sessions led by LCDC-licensed clinicians, where the work goes beyond information into actual practice. Groups cover relapse prevention, coping skills, trauma-informed care, communication and relationship skills, and the deeper "why" of addiction — using approaches like CBT, DBT, and motivational interviewing.
Individual counseling gives you a private space to work through what you don't want to say in front of others. Family education brings the people who love you into the process so they can support your recovery without taking it over. And our case management team helps with the practical things — work, court, FMLA, school, sober living — so you can focus on getting well.
Yes. The AM and PM tracks exist precisely so recovery fits around your schedule, not the other way around. Morning IOP usually runs 9 AM to noon; evening IOP typically runs 6 PM to 9 PM. Most clients keep their jobs, manage school, and maintain their family routines while in IOP. We're also experienced with FMLA paperwork and employer communication if that's needed.
We're in-network with Ambetter from Superior HealthPlan, Cigna, Curative, UnitedHealthcare, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, plus most major EAPs (ComPsych, Magellan, Lyra, Spring Health, Optum, LifeWorks). PPO plans typically cover IOP at a meaningful level. Verify your benefits free and we'll explain your real out-of-pocket cost before you commit.
