Detox & Residential · Referral Coordination
Altura Recovery is outpatient — we don't run a detox unit or residential facility. What we do is place you (or your loved one) into the right Houston-area detox or residential program through our vetted partners, manage the insurance, and bring you back into our PHP, IOP, and sober living the day you step down.

No. Altura Recovery is outpatient only. When detox or residential treatment is clinically needed first, Altura coordinates placement with vetted partners and then brings the client into PHP, IOP, or sober living-supported outpatient care after discharge.
These two get confused all the time. They're not the same level of care.
We coordinate directly with vetted Houston-area detox and residential partners. The placement process:
We're in-network with Ambetter from Superior HealthPlan, Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Cigna, Aetna, and Curative for our outpatient services. Our detox and residential partners are also in-network with most major insurers — we verify benefits at both levels before any commitment.
For uninsured or underinsured families: we have partners with scholarship slots, sliding-scale arrangements, and self-pay structures. Call us before assuming it's out of reach.
For the housing step-down, we coordinate with separately operated sober living partners and often share Aspire Recovery Homes' gender-specific resources: sober living for women in Houston and sober living for men in Houston.
Call now if: active alcohol or benzodiazepine withdrawal (medical emergency potential), opioid overdose risk, suicidal ideation, recent overdose, a teen with active substance use, or a loved one who's said "I'll go to treatment" — that window closes fast.
Call this week if: using is interfering with work, relationships, or health but no acute medical risk, multiple failed attempts to stop on your own, or a family member you don't know how to help.
Not a strip-mall office. A clean, modern space where you'll actually want to show up.
Free Placement Assessment
One call, no obligation. Our admissions clinician will recommend the right level of care (detox, residential, PHP, or IOP), verify your insurance at both the inpatient and outpatient levels, and coordinate the bed.

No. Altura is outpatient — PHP, IOP, SOP, virtual treatment, and partner-coordinated sober living. We place clients into vetted Houston-area detox and residential partners, then bring them back into our outpatient programs after discharge.
Three reasons. One: we know which Houston partners are clinically solid and which aren't — and we'll tell you. Two: we run insurance at both the inpatient and outpatient level so there are no surprises at discharge. Three: your step-down to IOP is reserved before you even enter detox, so there's no gap when you discharge.
Same day to 48 hours for most cases. Acute alcohol or benzo withdrawal is an emergency — for those calls, we move within hours.
Detox is typically 100% covered by insurance after deductible (medically necessary care). Residential varies — usually covered at 50–100% in-network. We verify benefits at both levels before you commit so there are no surprises.
Detox and residential placement for adolescents goes through different partners than adult placement. Yes, we coordinate that too. Call our admissions line and ask for adolescent care.
We have partners with scholarship slots, sliding-scale arrangements, and self-pay programs. Don't assume it's out of reach without calling first.
No — we recommend, you decide. The clinical assessment is consultative. Our job is to give you a clear, evidence-based recommendation and let you (or the family) choose the path.
