The clinical answer is a step-down: PHP first, then IOP, then supportive outpatient — with sober living running underneath until home is genuinely safe and stable.

What a step-down at Altura looks like

1. Weeks 1–3 — PHP. 20–30 clinical hours per week. Process groups, individual therapy, psychiatric medication management, family sessions. Living in a sober house if you need housing structure.
2. Weeks 4–10 — IOP. 9–12 hours per week, three evenings or three mornings. You return to work, school, parenting, or job search. Continued sober housing if needed.
3. Months 3–12 — Supportive outpatient and alumni. Weekly check-ins, relapse prevention, family support, return-to-treatment fast lane if you stumble.

Structured accountability through sober living

We don't operate housing ourselves — we maintain working relationships with separately operated houses so clients have a stable place to live while they attend PHP or IOP.
