Struggling with mental health as a teenager can feel overwhelming—especially when school, social pressures, and expectations don’t slow down. Teens are still expected to perform, connect, and “hold it together” even when anxiety, isolation, or emotional exhaustion are making life feel unmanageable.
That’s why we created the Altura Recovery Teen IOP—a structured, supportive program that meets after school to help adolescents build confidence, balance, and emotional resilience.
At Altura Recovery, we work closely with families because we know healing doesn’t happen in isolation. Teen mental health issues like anxiety, depression, and emotional shutdown often disrupt family dynamics, and parents are left feeling helpless. Our teen mental health IOP not only helps adolescents feel safe and supported—it also strengthens families with communication tools, boundaries, and guided involvement.
“Family-involved treatment is one of the most effective ways to improve long-term mental health outcomes in adolescents.”
— National Institute on Drug Abuse
✅ Optional parent sessions and check-ins
✅ Weekly clinical updates for guardians
✅ Resources for conflict resolution and emotional safety
✅ Tools to rebuild connection, not control
✅ Support for siblings and the family system as a whole
Whether your teen is pulling away or spiraling emotionally, we help the whole family reset—not just the individual.
Altura Recovery’s Teen Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) offers daily, structured mental health support while allowing teens to stay engaged in their school and home life. This after-school IOP runs 3 times a week Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, making it one of the most accessible programs for working parents and students.
Each teen’s care is personalized but grounded in a consistent clinical framework:
✅ Daily small-group therapy with licensed adolescent therapists
✅ Weekly 1-on-1 therapy focused on personal insight and goals
✅ Social-emotional learning through DBT, CBT, and mindfulness
✅ Life skill development—communication, stress management, identity formation
✅ Structured check-ins and skill tracking throughout the week
This isn’t just a place to vent. It’s a place to grow, reframe, and find tools for lifelong resilience.
Our teen IOP in Houston is designed for adolescents ages 14 to 17 who are experiencing emotional or behavioral difficulties but do not require hospitalization. This includes teens who may already be in weekly therapy but need more frequent, structured care to prevent escalation or deepen progress.
We support teens struggling with:
✅ Social anxiety, panic attacks, or isolation
✅ Depression, hopelessness, or emotional shutdown
✅ Academic burnout, perfectionism, or avoidance
✅ Family conflict or emotional dysregulation
✅ Identity challenges, grief, or trauma history
✅ Early signs of risky behavior or self-harm
This program bridges the gap between once-a-week therapy and inpatient treatment—giving teens the consistent care they need, while keeping them grounded in everyday life.
When a teen is struggling with mental health, it doesn’t just affect their mood—it shapes how they see themselves, connect with others, and make decisions about their future. Without the right support, anxiety can turn into isolation. Depression can become disconnection. Stress can spiral into panic or avoidance. And families are often left watching from the sidelines, unsure what to do next.
Early, structured support—like a Teen Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)—can prevent things from getting worse while giving teens the skills, connection, and confidence they need to move forward.
“Teens who receive timely outpatient mental health care show significantly lower rates of hospitalization, school failure, and long-term emotional distress.”
— American Academy of Pediatrics
✅ Teens learn how to name and manage their emotions
✅ Parents gain tools to support without power struggles
✅ School performance and self-confidence often improve
✅ Long-term mental health outcomes are better with early care
✅ It’s easier to rebuild than to rescue
Altura Recovery’s Teen IOP in Houston exists because too many teens are silently suffering, and too many families are waiting for things to “get bad enough.” We believe in acting now—not later. Because when teens are supported early, they don’t just survive—they heal, grow, and thrive.

At Altura Recovery, we take a different approach to teen mental health treatment—one built on connection, clinical integrity, and real-life tools. We don’t believe in fixing teens. We believe in supporting them as they learn how to face challenges, navigate emotions, and build lives they’re proud of.
Our Teen Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) combines evidence-based therapy with personalized care in a setting that’s warm, structured, and teen-friendly.

Sometimes the hardest step is the first one — but we’ll make it easier, together.
An Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) offers more structure and support than traditional once-a-week therapy. At Altura, you’ll attend group sessions multiple times per week, gain hands-on tools for managing emotions, and build peer connection — all while continuing your daily life. Many clients combine IOP with individual therapy for a more complete path to healing.
Yes! Many of our clients continue seeing their individual therapist while participating in our IOP. We encourage this — IOP provides group support and skill-building, while your therapist helps with deep personal work. Together, they create powerful change. You may also see one of our therapists one-on-one if you would like!
We’re based in Bellaire, TX — convenient to Houston neighborhoods like West University, Greenway Plaza, Meyerland, and the Galleria. Our IOP location is quiet, safe, and accessible with free parking and flexible scheduling for busy professionals and adults.
